A New Era for Paladins: World of Warcraft’s 11.0.5 Patch Brings Sweeping Changes to the Holy Class
As World of Warcraft celebrates its 20th anniversary, Blizzard has unleashed a major patch for The War Within, and Paladins are at the forefront of the revolution. The 11.0.5 patch brings a plethora of updates and changes to the game, but none as significant as the overhaul of the Paladin class. New Talents and Class Changes
The Paladin class has received a significant number of new talents, providing more flexibility and options for players. Some of the notable new talents include:
- Holy Ritual: Allies are healed when you cast a Blessing spell on them and healed again when the blessing ends.
- Worthy Sacrifice: You automatically cast Blessing of Sacrifice onto allies within 40 yards when they receive damage while below 35% health and you are not in a loss of control effect.
- Steed of Liberty: Divine Steed also grants Blessing of Freedom for 3 seconds.
- Eye for an Eye: Melee and ranged attackers receive Holy damage each time they strike you during Ardent Defender or Divine Protection and Divine Shield.
Specialization Changes
Holy Paladin
The Holy Paladin spec has received a 3% increase in healing, with Word of Glory healing increased by 5% and Shield of the Righteous damage increased by 10%. The Divine Favor talent now appears on the personal resource display, and Awakening‘s judgment buff now appears on the personal resource display.
Protection Paladin
The Protection Paladin spec has received a 6% increase in damage, with Shield of the Righteous damage increased by 20% and Word of Glory healing increased by 10%.
Retribution Paladin
The Retribution Paladin spec has received a 6% increase in damage, with Shield of the Righteous damage increased by 20% and Word of Glory healing increased by 10%.
Other Notable Changes
In addition to the Paladin class changes, the patch also includes several other updates:
- Fist of Justice has been redesigned, reducing the cooldown of Hammer of Justice by 15 seconds.
- Sanctified Wrath has been redesigned, increasing the duration of Avenging Wrath and causing its respective specialization effect.
- Consecrated Ground is now a class tree talent.
- Auras of the Resolute now teaches the paladin Crusader Aura.
- Seasoned Warhorse is now a passive learned at level 40.
- Judgment damage has been increased by 10%, and its cooldown has been reduced by 1 second.
